After transferring to Florence-Darlington Technical College from a year played at the University of Albany, Christan was drafted in 2012 by the Houston Astros in the 29th round.

He played for the Greeneville Astros for a full season and split time in his second season with both the Tri-City ValleyCats and Greeneville in 2013.
